Reporting — GCsolution
This page covers generating, customizing, and automating reports in GCsolution for the Shimadzu GC-2025. Reports are managed through the Report Generator window, which acts as a desktop publishing tool for your chromatographic data.
Generating a Report
Access the Report Window
- Click the [Report Generator] icon on the Assistant Bar, OR
- Double-click a report file (
.gcr) in [VERIFY: Data Explorer]

Load Data and Print
- Drag and drop a data file (
.gcd) from [VERIFY: Data Explorer] onto the report - Click the Preview icon on the Assistant Bar to verify the layout
- Click Print to send to printer
- Save your customized report format (
.gcr) for reuse

Customizing Report Contents
Adding Items
- Click an icon on the report item tool palette (e.g., Chromatogram, Peak Table, Calibration Curve)
- Click and drag diagonally on the page to draw a box where you want the item to appear

Editing Item Properties
Right-click an item and select Properties…, or double-click the item’s handle. This opens a properties window specific to that element:
Chromatogram properties: change X and Y scales, add titles, choose whether to display baseline and peak detection marks. You can specify an exact time/intensity range to zoom in on specific peaks.
Peak Table properties: click the Format tab. Select specific columns (e.g., Peak#, Ret.Time, Area, Conc.) and use the Add >> and << Delete buttons to move them between “Hide Items” and “Display Items” lists. You can also configure the table to print total sums for Area or Concentration.
Calibration Curve properties: in the [Position] tab, check boxes to include the Header (equation and R²), the Graph, and the Table.

Auto-Printing
For a Single Run
- Click [Single Run] on the Assistant Bar → open the [VERIFY: Sample Login] window
- At the bottom of the window, check the Report box
- Enter or browse for your saved
.gcrreport format file - The report prints automatically when the run finishes

For a Batch Analysis
- Open your batch table
- For every row that needs a report, check the Report Output checkbox
- In the Report Format File column, specify the
.gcrfile name - For a summary report across the whole batch: define “Summary Start” and “Summary End” rows and specify a Summary Report format file

Default Report Fallback
If you check the report output box but leave the format file name blank, the software prints using a default format. Set this default via Tools → Option… → Report tab.

PDF Export
Instead of physical printouts, you can configure automatic PDF export: check “Redirect Report to PDF file” in Tools → Option → PDF Export tab.
