Single Run Analysis
Detailed procedure for running one sample on the Shimadzu GC-2025. For the abbreviated version, see Run One Sample. For automated sequences, see Batch_Processing.
Prerequisites: GC is started and showing “Ready” (see Startup), method file is loaded (see Method_Development).
Step 1: Sample Login
- Click Single Run icon on the Assistant Bar
- Click Sample Login icon

Step 2: Enter Sample Information
| Field | Required? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Data File | Mandatory | Name for data file. Check Auto increment to avoid overwriting previous runs. |
| Vial # | Mandatory | Sample vial position on auto-injector. Use “0” for blank/cleanup runs. |
| Sample Name | Optional | For record-keeping |
| Sample ID | Optional | For record-keeping |
| Report | Optional | Check to auto-print report after analysis; select report format |
Click OK to confirm.

Step 3: Start Analysis
With Auto-Sampler
- Click Start icon (green play button)
- Auto-sampler injects and acquisition begins automatically
Manual Injection
- Click Start in software first
- Inject sample with syringe (see Manual Injection for technique)
- Immediately press the physical START button on the GC
⚠️ Warning: Pressing START on the GC without clicking Start in software first will run the temperature program but no data will be acquired.

Step 4: Monitor and Complete
During analysis:
- GC status shows “Acquire”
- Analysis stops automatically after the preset analysis time
- To stop early: click Stop icon — data acquired up to that point is saved
After analysis:
- Status briefly shows “Not Ready”
- Returns to “Ready” → next sample can be started
